Il macramè è una tecnica di lavorazione di filati, quali cotone, lino e canapa (l'importante è che sia resistente e ben ritorto), per la realizzazione di un merletto a nodi.

La parola sembrerebbe derivare da due termini arabi

“mahrana”, che significa frangia e “rame” che vuol dire nodo.
Conosciutoin Italia sin dal medioevo, prende piede soprattutto in Liguria per poi estendersi a tutta la penisola, soprattutto grazie a conventi

e istituti religiosi.

Molto in voga negli anni '80 periodo nel quale spospolavano i "scoubidou", braccialetti o portachiavi eseguiti con questa tecnica.

Si possono creare merletti intrecciati per ornare tovaglie, cuscini, tende, asciugamani o creare favolosi gioielli di bigotteria, molto freschi ed estivise, per esempio, realizzati con la juta, o, utilizzando filati ancora più sottili, molto raffinati ed eleganti (tecnica del micro macramè). 

Macramè is a technique for processing yarns, such as cotton, linen and hemp (the important thing is that it is resistant and well twisted), for the realization of a knot lace.
The word would seem to derive from two Arabic terms

and religious institutes.
Very popular in the 1980s period in which they were repopular the "scoubidou", bracelets or key rings performed with this technique.

You can create braided lace to adorn tablecloths, pillows, drying curtains or create fabulous jewelry of bigotry, very fresh and summery, for example, made with jute, or, using even thinner, very refined and elegant filatiana (micro macracy technique).
